Pre-flight checklist

A pre-flight checklist is a comprehensive list of actions that should be completed by the pilot on every flight, prior to takeoff. All pilots use them, from private pilots flying small single-engined aircraft, to military pilots, right up to airline pilots flying commercially.

As a PPL student you will do a walk-around inspection of the plane to check the fuel levels (as seen in the picture), whether there is any water contamination in the fuel, observe the flight control surfaces and propeller, pitot tubes, oil levels, tyres, any damage or localised wear etc. It is vital to make sure that the aircraft is flight-worthy and ready to go.

To learn how to fly for leisure, or to start a career in aviation, contact Aero Academy and we’ll make it happen.
